A Study into the Cyber Crime Awareness among College Going Student

ABSTRACT:

Cybercrime is one such crime in which today's youth are most affected. The changing network of social media day by day, when people's information is being misused, it is not known. There is a lack of awareness and proper use of social media among adolescents. Due to which the misuse of their personal information is increasing day by day. Cyber ​​crime involves theft of many types of information, in which today's youth is affected by data manipulation, hacking, spam mail, cyber crime, fake calls, rumors of social networks, cyberbullying etc. Through the present research, an attempt has been made to clarify on the basis of information obtained from various researches.

INTRODUCTION:

Cybercrime is described as a serious crime. Which includes computer internet-related crime, including hacking, phishing, spamming or internet-related areas. child pornography is also included in this crime. Use of personal information of the person in this crime as well as business-related secret without permission of the person.

 

Cybercriminals can use computers to misuse communications related information, documents as well as the application of data. Criminal offenses are mostly committed through cybercrime hacking. Cybercrime can also be referred to as computer and internet crime.

 

Cybercrime is a global problem, the risk of war is the risk of bloodless war, the risk of cybercrime is increasing with the use of the internet, the number of internet users is increasing day by day but also giving the effect of cybercrime.

 

In today's time, the means of communication has become the choice of people, Cybercrime is a crime that involves a computer network. Obtaining and misusing the personal information of any person is covered under cybercrime. Cybercrime is done through computers in the following ways to steal someone's information. Making information public, erasing someone's information or destroying that part belongs to cybercrime nowadays. In this case, individuals organizations and even cyber have caused a lot of damage to the government, to deal with this problem and to prevent them, a variety of methods are being used by the government to make many kinds of laws. There is a provision of punishment for people who have committed crimes and various studies have shown that this problem is seriously affected in countries. More cyber ups in America. There are weapons that are seriously affected by cybercrime. Today is the time of instant transmission of information communication. In today's time, connectivity is at its peak, due to which a new problem is natural. Individuals use information and communication immediately to connect with people. Social media interferes with the freedom and peace of individuals and sometimes it is fatal. email and website. Cybercrime has been defined as illegal. Is being used the internet is the greater use of new technologies to promote cybercrime. Between 2011 and 2015, the growth of cybercrime across the country has increased by 5 %. The state of Uttar Pradesh, the crime farmer in Maharashtra is studying to face this crime more. Cybercrime in India is the registered chief IT Act IPC Indian Penal Code SLL. Between 2011 and 2015, more than 24000 cybercrime took place in more than 32000 countries. In more than 24 thousand IT Act, cybercrime is also called computer crime.

 

Apart from this, the means of cybercrime are to comment, fraud, child pornography, identity theft, violation of the law, privacy, etc. Cybercrime has increased especially through the internet. Cybercrime is mainly like stealing data of computer systems, making data changes, stealing intellectual property, etc. most of the cyber-crimes that happen steal the information of individuals and corporations. India has seen a 20% increase in cybercrime in 2015, according to the National crime Report Bureau NCRB's latest report in 2014 showed that cybercrime cases increased from 9,622 to 11,592.

 

OBJECTIVE:

This study is intended to get acquaintance of the following:-

1.    To present findings from the collected related review about role of cyber crime awareness on students.

2.    To summarize the findings of the studies on the effects of cyber crime on students.

 

METHODOLOGY:

After studying the researches presented by literature survey, to know how many people are aware of the problems of cybercrime.  To find out the result of the conclusions drawn by various researches in it.  Collecting information through literature survey and through various research papers on how much awareness there is about cybercrime.  To study the lack of awareness in students.

 

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

D A Prathima Mathias, (2018), did a study on “A Survey Report On Cybercrime Awareness Among Graduate And Postgraduate Students Of Government In Stitutions In Chickmagaluru, Karnataka, India and A Subsequent Effort to Educate them Through a Seminar”. With the advent of smart mobile phones in India, it has become easier to exchange communication. There has been a lot of change in the present. Earlier, communication had to have resorted to cyber cafes but now with the arrival of smartphones, it has become easier to communicate. It is gone that along with the youth, children and elderly people are also using it, but its effect affects the youth in more quantity nowadays, everything is done by the youth. They resort to smartphones to carry out their personal information to public works on smartphones. Any system is included in the information system. Internet, computers, cybercrime is a more serious crime due to the use of smartphones and lack of information. Because it lacks a witness.

 

Ms. Aparna et. al. (2012), did a study on “Preventing cyber crime: A Study Regarding Awareness Of Cyber Crime In Tricity” This research paper showcases cybercrime overview and examines the problems related to cybercrime among IT professionals. The aim of the researcher is to find out the seriousness of the security problem and to limit the amount of impact it has on the whole world. The aim of the research presented is to investigate if cybercrime is occurring or whether the internet has been used to report the people with whom cybercrime has taken place and the level of cybercrime awareness among the youth. In which the survey method is used, the questionnaire has been used to collect data.

 

Pardeep Loved Martis P and Arjun MSA(2018), did a study on “ Cyber Crime Awareness Among Youth in Udupi District” The purpose of this research is to know how much information about cybercrime has been given to the youth of the Udupi district. In today's time, cybercrime is a very big problem. If the youth has to be protected from cybercrime, then it is very important to give them information about cybersecurity. In order to create awareness among them, this research has used a questionnaire method to survey the youth to provide them information about cybersecurity, which is the area of ​​survey Udupi district. There were 300 students in the sample size, who have cybercrime and cyber Information has been provided about security and suggestions have been given to deal with this problem.

 

 

Saroj Mehta and Vikram Singh, (2013), did a study on “A Study Of Awareness About Cyberlawes In The Indian Society” In India, every minute the person is connecting to the internet, not only is connecting digitally but there is a need to keep information about cybersecurity as well, nowadays youth use different types of gadgets and many different types of platforms through the Internet. The use of the Internet promotes cybercrime because the youth do not know the proper way to use it. Various work is focused on research, what is cybercrime, what is the cause of cybercrime, if aware then how is it aware. In the research presented, information has been provided towards the use of the internet and cybersecurity under awareness program.

 

Moti Zwilling et. al. (2020), did a study on “Cyber Security Awarenss, Knowledge and Behavior: A Comprative Study”, Cyber ​​attacks represent a problem encountered in information security. At present, as the use of the internet is increasing, the cybersecurity concern is also increasing because the problem will increase as much as the cyber-attack is using the internet. Because the effect of which is that the information about cybersecurity is expanding rapidly. The study specifically of 4 countries which include Israel, Slovenia, Poland, and Turkey. It has been studied how the behavior of the person, knowledge of the person is related to information about cybersecurity. The result has revealed that the Internet user is at risk of cyberattacks. Most of the people adopt simple and simple cybersecurity measures, the study results have also revealed that cyber knowledge is related to cybersecurity awareness. Apart from this, awareness protection is also included. The findings in the research showed that different countries have different knowledge and behavior. This affects cybersecurity awareness and cyber-attack. Training programs and their results are discussed for safety information.

 

Abbash Moallem,(1017), studies “Cyber Security Awareness Among College Student” College students were studied in the best environment to learn about students' understanding and awareness of cybersecurity and any problem that arises as a result. This study has been done in Silicon-valley, California, California. In the valley, the students' methodology is spread in the form of athinikaltali li kali divers, a website which is called Saint John State the Iwarsiti 15% male, female 49% accordingly | The average age of graduate students is 32. 68 It has been observed in the research presented that how much students know about cyber-attacks and what methods they use in their defense. This study has been conducted, quantitative data were collected through online surveys.

 

The survey, which was the current state of the research in 2017, was conducted on this, organized in different courses in which human-computer, interaction, factors/ergonomics. The student respondents for this subject include 38% female, 72% male, which included a large number of youth group, more than 70% of graduate students. In the answer about cybersecurity, the number of students who agreed as an option was 20%, the number of strongly agreeing students was 48% and some students neither agreed nor disagreed, 33%. This led to the result that 33% of the students who do not know about cybersecurity. One-third of the students are ignorant about cybersecurity. They are not aware of this. It was concluded by this survey that students use the Internet but are not aware of its security, knowing that their data is not safe to make them aware is required.

 

Mohammad Mastufa Kamal et. al. (2012), “Nature of Cyber Crime and its Impacts on Young People : A Case From Bangladesh” The case of cybercrime in the world is increasing day by day. The current biggest problem is cybercrime which is taking serious form in the world. The nature of cybercrime has been described by this research paper, Internet usage is not as much in Bangladesh as it is in developed countries, yet cyber-crime is emerging in Bangladesh. Which is the result of the use of the internet? The nature of the study is based on the search, the methodology that has been used in it has been used face to face interview, case study. 30 reply donors were selected, selected by objective method. This result has been found by the study that cybercrime is not as serious as it is for most of the youth, such as hacking, pornography sites, hunting through computers and viruses through the Internet. Getting rid of computer laptops. due to this type of problem is widespread, the attention of cybercrime is increasing.

 

CONCLUSION:

As a result of the above researches, it was concluded that cybercrime is a major problem today. Due to which every class is suffering, their personal data is lost due to lack of awareness by some means, due to which they have to face mental stress as well as financial loss.  People of the youth are aware of any task, but there is no awareness of how they should be used. Even a small mistake can do them a great deal.

 

Nowadays people are using internet but they do not know how to use it properly due to which people are falling prey to cybercrime every day. Therefore, for this, new technological means for campaign, camping as well as awareness.  Training should be provided, so that cyber crime can be reduced.
